Friedman's 8. 9. and 10 flatteners

Friedman's 8. 9. and 10 flatteners

Flattener 8:  in-sourcing, a whole new form of collaboration and horizontal value creation. Friedman's example is that many companies cannot afford a global supply chain management solution.

Flattener 9: in-forming, people have universal access to information through tools, such as Google.

Flattener 10: the steroids, including powerful laptops, wireless technology. Blackberry device, and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).

Wireless technology in Suli
This technology is very popular in Suli because it is widely used; the majority of people here are using wireless to access the internet. Suli's people prefer this technology because they can use it at home and by each member of a family if it is identified for everyone. Wireless technology has a big impact on this society because it is needed all around the city, and people have gotten used to use this technology for their internet needs. For most people here, it is the best way of using the internet because it is fast and cheap.

Friedman's flatteners 4, 5, 6

Friedman's flatteners 4, 5, 6

  • Flattener 4: source opening- shared working and collaborating.
  • Flattener 5: companies are allowed by outsourcing and people to get other work done for them, businesses are allowed to work in the most efficient, cost- effective, time effective way.
  • Flattener 6: offshoring, the practice od a company in one country arranging for people in another country to do work for it.
 * Technology has enabled them by changing the space in which firms and proffessionals compete,  by creating a web- enabled palying field that enables participants to collaborate regardless of geography, distance or language, and by creating and sharing programs.

* Flattener 4 is the most disruptive force of all because uploading is very important in the computer world that today we live in. It allows people to put information on the web and let other people get it. So with no uploading, we cannot have information or web that we have today.

Summary of CH1, While I Was Sleeping

There were three periods of globalization. The first period included countries that were globalizing from around 1400 to 1800, countries in the second period were globalizing from 1800 to 2000, and in the third period, when the world flattened, people from different nationalities started to globalize themselves after 2000. During the first period, the world shrunk a little, and globalization started when Columbus found out that the world was round. In addition, people created jobs, made industries, and economies were filled with buildings. finally, Mr. Friedman traveled to a few countries to have conversations about different kinds of business outsourcing.

Ch2 Flatteners 1, 2, and 3:

Flattener 3: The processing of Software- or people did not help machines to talk to other machines because of their ability to do that.
